We would normally think that people in New York City would not go out of their way to lend a hand, and are too busy with their own things to be concerned about others. Kacie Kinzer created a project that tests to see how helpful people can really be. The project involves a robot that only moves forward at a constant speed, and has a flag with its destination on it. The robot will obviously get stuck at curbs and bumps, but people passing by can assist.
Tweenbots are human-dependant robots that rely on the assitance of humans to get to their destination. The video above shows the project being carried out at Washington Square Park with the robot attempting to get from the Northeast Corner of the park to the Southwest Corner of the park. It took 42 minutes for the robot to make it to the other side and it required 29 people to get to the destination.
